The Dark Knight
My friends and i went to see the new movie "i am legend" last night. it was a good movie. but there was a preview for the new batman coming out in a year. this preview actually showed the joker, and for real, if you didn't know heath ledger was playing him, you would have never guessed. i believe he can do it, hes got the laugh, and the voice, hes crazy and the director took a different idea for the jokers make up. it is very exciting.

So, the planning continues.
We land at DIA this Sat at 8PM
David's parents are not coming down to DIA (as of right now).
The Wolpoff's have invited us over to their place for coffee and cake - this way David can get his little Audi.
We will be spending the night at your house. In fact we will be spending all of the nights at your house so Marilee can have the nice guest room at the Wolpoff house.
Sunday morning we will be spending with you two.
David is going down (1 pm-ish) to DIA with his parents to pick up Marilee and have pizza.
I may join them.
David and I are going to have dinner at Nates house Sun night.
Monday night goes to Ben and Becky
Tuesday night goes to the 5 Man crew
Wednesday Afternoon goes to old SparkFun Folk.
Wednesday night is a possible double family dinner night.

The Run Down
Question from Jen: What days does dad have off?
We land at DIA this Sat at 8PM
David's parents may not come as they are going to DIA on Sunday.
Were thinking of meeting up with them in Boulder for coffee/ice cream/something.
We will be spending the night at your house.

This is the extent of the plan. :-)
No worries. Im actually going down to Alexandria today to photograph some of Merilee's art (did you know she's an artist?). It will be fun.
Oh and here is a mildly funny video:

Nihongo ga wakarimaska?
I got to use my Japanese today. I was walking down the hall when the leasing manager Lisa came out and asked me what languages I knew. I told her a little bit of Japanese and French. She was working with a maintenance worker and wasn't sure what Asian language she spoke. Turns out she spoke Chinese (Japanese isn't common here), though she spoke 'skoshi' Japaneses (a little bit).

For the love of Ron Paul
Check it out.
Is it possible to comprehend what we've done today? Earth-shattering, jaw-dropping... No matter which way you phrase it, Ron Paul is for real.
Over $3,800,000 raised.
More than 35,000 total donations.
1 message - and 1 candidate - unlike any other.
Can we keep our momentum going? The most successful fundraising day ever is John Kerry's $5.7 million. And that was on the day he accepted the Democratic nomination.
Let's do it: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate

Study Study!
(you may need to install Japanese fonts on your computer in order to read this. sorry!)
I have been practicing my Japanese rather diligently lately - this is the result:
おはようございます。
- Good morning!
[ohayogozaimasu]
これは わたしの ブログです。
- This is my blog.
[kore wa watashi no 'burogu' desu]
おげんきですか。 私は げんきです。
- How are you? I am fine.
[ogenki desu ka? watashi wa genki desu]
これは ヲルポフさんの お弁当です。 これは わたしの お弁当ではありません。
- This is Mr. Wolpoff's bento(lunch). This is not my lunch.
[kore wa 'worupofu'-san no obento desu. kore wa watashi no obento dewa arimasen]
これは ヲルポフさんのです。
- It is Mr Wolpoff's.
[kore wa 'worupofu'-san no desu]
私の でんわばんごは さん ゼロ さん の に よん いち の さん はち さん はち。
- My phone number is...
[watashi no denwabango wa san zero san no ni yon ichi no san hachi san hachi]
The Japanese language has 3 alphabets: hiragana, katakana and kanji. Hiragana and Katakana both have 46 characters while the kanji alphabet has over 5000. I know the hiragana and katakana alphabets, and about 10 kanji characters. The above 'note' uses all three alphabets (only a little kanji).
Hiragana and Katakana are the first things you learn in school as a Japanese child - each character corresponds to a sound (like our alphabet). So the level I write at is that of a 2nd grader... cool.
Hiragana is used to write Japanese words (like rice = ごはん) while Katakana is used for foreign words (like pizza = ピザ or my name = ジェン). The Kanji alphabet is a pictographic alphabet - each character corresponds to a meaning (for example 車 means car). This is how you write car in hiragana = くるま so essentially you can communicate with only hiragana and katakana but it shows a severe lack of education. Anyway, if you want to know more about the language you can hit up this site.

This page (the one your looking at right now) is what I call THE BLOG.
THE BLOG is a web page run by Google. You have a Google account because you are a member of Google.
If you want to write something on THE BLOG you have to "log in" because Google doesn't automatically know who you are.
This is how you "log in" to THE BLOG.

Do you see an icon that looks like this in the top left corner of the screen?
Click on it.
Do you see where it says "Sign in to use Blogger"?
It asks for your username and your password. Your username is your email.
(mom in your case it is your @aol.com email)
Once you log in you will see a page called "Dashboard"
It will also say "The Talmage Internet Hookup" - that is THE BLOG.
Under that there will be a little green + sign and the words "New Post" - if you click on that, you can write on THE BLOG.
--------PART TWO--------
The web site that has all of my pictures is here.
It is NOT part of THE BLOG. It is run by Flickr. Flickr is NOT a part of Google.
If you want to comment on my Flickr pictures you have to "log in" to Flickr.

Do you see an icon that looks like this at the top of the Flickr web page?
Click on it.
Now, on that page there is a VERY SMALL button that says "sign in" - it's in the top right corner. Click on it.
It will ask for your YahooID - which is your email @yahoo.com
Click "Sign In" and you're done!

Goofing around
Regarding the 'drawing on my face' picture on the Flicker site, it's VERY photo edited. Not that there is anything wrong with that, in fact it's a lot of fun. Here is the original photo vs the edited photo:
So you can send me any photo you like because I'm going to 'color' the 'devil' out of it.
If the ladies of the office (or guys...) would like to have a photo done-all they have to do is get me a good quality image (digital or paper). There will be no charge because this is an experiment and all I will provide in return is a digital file of the edited photo.

On cleaning
Heres my review of my new vacuum
The Dyson Slim is the coolest thing to suck. It's also one of the weirdest vacuums I've ever laid my hands on. It's quite non-traditional. I have to flip open the manual (which is a grand total of 4 pages) just to figure out how to use it. Either way, while cleaning my two bedroom apartment, I've had to empty the canister twice (thats either gross or cool, I'm not sure which).

Dungeons and Dragons
D&D is a 'rollplaying' game.
Remember when you were like five, and you would play cops and robbers with your friends? D&D is basically cops and robbers for older kids, teenagers, adults... Only instead of a cop, your a elf, goblin or other Tolkien character (this whole thing evolved out of Lord of the Rings), and instead of making up your own rules, you follow the rules in the D&D books. For the most part this is a game played by nerds. Prolly cuz nerds read Tolkien. This is what a game looks like. Hard core Christians think D&D players worship the Devil... I don't know about any Devil worshiping but we ate a lot of Doritos and drank a lot of Mountain Dew.
